Hi The domain legally belongs to you (I presume) and as such they may not retain control if you instruct them to the contrary. You simply instruct them to accept any and all transfer requests for your domain(s) coming from your new ISP. Make sure they who to expect the transfer from to prevent anyone sniping your domain and while on the subject, ensure the new ISP keeps the domain in YOUR name and not theirs... too many issues have arisen from this practice. Having dealt with Afrihost a few times this is usually painless as long as you have notified them. I suspect what they mean by "cancel the domain" is you need to cancel any and all services for that domain such as web hosting, email etc. My recommendation is that your new ISP initiate the transfer BEFORE your existing services terminate and configure it on their side as well to provide as smooth a transfer as possible.
