Here's a snapshot of http://mandela.co.za from 2008: http://tinyurl.com/h44u7hm At the bottom it says: "This domain is owned and operated as a business, by Andre Coetzee of 44 Bordeaux Drive, Bordeaux, Randburg, South Africa" The content is very clearly written by you for your benefit including the same lame justification for squatting on a famous name that you're doing right now. But on GLUG you claimed: "I am not the owner of mandela.co.za - even though my name is at Uniforum" before having to retract that statement since it was clearly a lie. QED. > Therefore no cybersquatting can even be possible and also someone could > argue that the name "mandela" is a clan/family/surname and is not > patentable or registrable as a trademark... > False. Cybersquatting very clearly includes buying domain names of famous people and sitting on them. Our own government even said so and used _you_ as a _specific example_: "Cyber-squatting is when a person creates for example, a Mandela.co.za domain, blocking the real Nelson Mandela from establishing a domain for himself. The person would then have to buy the domain name from the cyber-squatter." - http://tinyurl.com/h3xp9hu quoting a press release from the old SA govt. news agency. > One could argue that there are more than one person with the name > mandela. In fact and in truth ANYONE that registered the domain > mandela.co.za will NOT be a cybersquatter or doing anything wrong or > illegal, whether it be Mandla Mandela, Winnie Mandela etc etc etc etc. > Except if the person is Andre Coetzee and he's got some hare-brained scheme to offer email addresses like yourname-OQVi89Fm223eV8H5y9/[email protected] Then there's a problem. So, please tell us, Paul - with all of your credibility on the line: > > You say I Lied? > > In public on a public list? > Yes. Several times. Proof supplied above with links and references. > Which domain did I (this Andre Coetzee or actually any of the Andre > Coetzee's) register and be a "cybersquatter? > Wait! I know this one! Don't tell me - yes, it was http://mandela.co.za. It says so right there on the bottom of the web page and your surname isn't Mandela and the Government complained at the time that the real Nelson Mandela was blocked from establishing a domain for himself, a textbook example of cybersquatting obvious to everyone from Barney the Dinosaur upwards except you. > > I put it to you that: > Dude, you're not Barry Roux. He grilled me last year on the stand where I was an expert forensics witness - I helped prove theft of R30m worth of trade secrets. Proving people are lying using electronic communications in a court of law is my bread and butter. As you have slandered me here, in public, that you are in fact the > same person that slandered me on mybraodband.co.za Nope. You might want to reflect that when people say unpleasant things about you on multiple forums (GLUG, CLUG and MyBroadband just off the top of my head) then just maybe the problem isn't them? > Please also respond in public on this list, so that we can be clear > that you are calling me a liar and that you have not provided the facts > to back that up, yet. > I am calling you a liar. That is not the same thing as some of your supporters coming to Software Freedom Day. The reaction of the community is a matter of public record which can be easily browsed at: http://www.linux.org.za/Lists-Archives/glug-chat-0903/threads.html In fact, I'm pretty sure that you're the only person to be banned in all of GLUG's history which is saying something. > The truth is Pual Furber, that you can slander me, directly as you have > done here and so obviously that anyone can see it - except yourself? > > But it still does not detract me from saying that we need better > privacy legislation. > > We need to protect ourselves from people like you. > If IOZ needs to remove me for wasting its time responding to all this, it's cool.
