INX-ZA INX Fellowship Award ========================= The AfPIF-7 is a key meeting place for ISPs and network operators across the African continent to discuss and collaborate on the important issues around improving interconnection in Africa. This 4th annual meeting will be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 30 August 2016 - 1 September 2016. We understand that it may be difficult for our participants and stakeholders from South Africa to attend the upcoming AfPIF-7. In response, INX-ZA is providing a Fellowship award to enable active participants at the Internet exchanges (and INX working group) to attend free of charge. Benefits of Fellowship ----------------------------- - Attend all workshops and participate in sessions at the AfPIF-7 Conference - Participate in discussions that will affect how your network peers and interconnects with other networks. - Meet a wide range of people in the Internet industry from around the world INX-ZA promotes gender equality and creates opportunities for all. How to apply for a fellowship ----------------------------- The deadline for submissions is 24 July 2016, 23h59 UTC. 1. Submit a written application for the fellowship with the following information: a). Indicate the name of the individual applicant, as well as the departure city and country. b). Provide a plan of how you intend to socialise the AfPIF-7 event to your organisation and community between now and the start of the event. c). Provide information on how you intend to share your experiences with the community upon your return from the AfPIF event. In particular outline how you will use what you learn at the AfPIF event to improve the state of interconnections in your community. 2. Send the written application to [email protected] 3. The deadline for submission is 24 July 2016, 23h59 UTC. Any submissions sent thereafter will be ignored. 4. The notifications for acceptance will be sent by 30 July 2016 in order to initiate the visa processing and travel logistics. If you have any queries kindly feel free to seek clarifications directly from [email protected] Finally, if you had made plans to travel to AfPIF-7, please register online for planning purposes at https://www.afpif.org Note that successful fellows will be expected to produce a write-up or give a public presentation on their experiences at the event. Conference Fellowship Terms and Conditions 1. Attendance Fellows are expected to attend all sessions during the AfPIF-7 Conference. This includes but is not limited to, Tutorials, Seminars, Newcomers events, and all Social Events. 2. Participation should be subscribed to, or subscribe to the relevant INX and AfPIF-7 mailing lists. 3. INX-ZA will book and pay for the fellow's travel. Travel insurance is optional, and insurance fees are the sole responsibility of the Fellow. Fellows must make their own arrangements regarding transport to and from the airport and hotel. 4. Hotel accommodation will be booked by INX-ZA in a reasonably priced hotel close to the Conference venue. Fellows are responsible for any incidental room charges (including telephone calls, room service, and Internet connectivity, etc) and will likely be required to provide a credit card upon check in. 5. INX-ZA is not responsible for obtaining passports or visas for Fellows and is not responsible for any costs incurred by Fellows when applying for and obtaining a passport or Visa. Applicants must already hold a valid passport. AfPIF-7 will provide an invitation letter in order to fulfil visa requirements upon registration. 6. INX-ZA will not accept responsibly for the personal health, safety, or belongings of Fellows. 7. In the event a selected Fellow cannot attend the AfPIF-7 event due to unforeseen emergency circumstances, they may submit a written deferment request. INX-ZA will evaluate the request and may elect to resubmit the Fellowship application for consideration by the Fellowship Selection Committee for the next appropriate Conference 8. Fellows are required to complete a Post-Conference Fellowship Program Evaluation. A link to the survey will be provided and Fellows agree to respond within the stated deadline. 9. Publicity Fellows agree to have their name, affiliation, and place of origin announced on the INX-ZA website, and mailing list announcements. 10.
