co.za domain names & the ZACR

Hi All,

Just a heads up, if you have a co.za domain name, always check that you
are with a very friendly accredited registrar (to avoid having to spend
money on an attorney/court case)

If you lose access to the email address where your domain name is
registered to and you want to update/transfer your domain name to a
different registrar - There is no obligation on your existing registrar
to help you with the update, apparently.

Extract from ZACR Legal & Policy ([email protected]) : "Even though Registrar
have access to participate in the transfer process, most Registrars
generally do not participate"

and "XXX registrar  has generously accepted the transfer ticket"  

so, the ZACR considers it a "favour" for an accredited registrar to
assist a domain registrant to update their domain name.
