I think after even 1-2 years it should bet tossed out of the system.
They must be desperate for cash digging back 8 years.
Have you forward this to OUTA for comment ????

Subject: [IOZ] AARTO & SA Internet & Criminal Actions by the SA Government

Hi,

http://www.aarto.gov.za/index.php/query-my-fine - refers.

So, this morning I received a "first notice" of an alleged traffic
offense, involving a company vehicle (registered in my name),

from 8 years ago...

Now, around the same time, 8 Years ago, the vehicles were also sold and
the company closed.

As about 12 people drove that specific vehicle, 8 years ago, I cannot
recall who drove the vehicle at exactly 10:15 on a Tuesday, 8 years ago
and the log books, as log books are only kept for 5 years, no longer
exist.

Although receiving:
Total number of Infringement notices 1
Total number of Courtesy Letters 0
Total number of Enforcement Orders* 0
Total number of outstanding Infringements1

today, via email, to a very old and not often used email address I alos
logged onto the AARTO website...

Not only is that website UNSECURE (http) but it has so many
other security issues that it boggles the mind.

So, the South African Government transmits my ID number, personal
information, and a whole bunch of sensitive information, over the open
Internet and runs a website that Mickey and Minnie Mouse would not even
use.

The person/people who run this AARTO place should be tried, convicted and
imprisoned

as I personally consider their actions criminally negligent.

Even my 6 year old knows that an http website is not cool. - Maybe
there are little children running a Government department? (Younger
than 6?)

But, as we have so many other problems, I guess this is just another
brick in the wall.

What bothers me also, is that if they take 8 years to send a 'first notice"
- can they send
notices from 20 years ago? maybe from 30 years ago?

We truly live in a banana republic.

Oh, and this is maybe funny, because now it is me... Next week it could
be you.

Andre
