No, it isn't. Changes are the blocking factors there. If something works and does its job, it will not be changed until it doesn't anymore. This applies to other protocols (e.g. TLS for HTTPS, SMTP, etc.) too. It also applies to operating system upgrade or firmware on networking devices. It will not be updated until a feature (or bugfix) is really necessary.
