Very much mistaken!! Free refers to Freedom not price. You can sell Free 
Software. Open Source cares only of building technically supirior software 
don't consider the social benefits. While Free Software Movement emphasises 
the socila role of Free Software than the technical fitness. The Open Source 
supporters use it simply because it is best for them, they will also use 
non-free software if they find it better [for example Linus Torvalds using 
Bit Keeper, a proprietory software for Linux kernel management]. Free 
Softaware woks for a completely Free OS and softwares for all the needs and 
consider using non-free software ethically wrong and evil.

Don't confuse Free Software with Freeware(free of cost). In fact Open Source 
software and Free Software are one and the same but what they look for in it 
is different. In fact Open Source Software is started as a way of marketing 
Free Software.

Nobody says hardwork is not to be payed for.

I hope it is clear to you. 

Open Source is a technical process and Free Software is a social movement 
and philosophy.

Richard Stallman considers Open Source Initiative and Free Software movement 
as two parties of the same community who differs in ideals but co operate in 
all practical issues. If you don't want to be in side with any use FLOSS 
(Free/Libre and Open Source Software) or FOSS (Free and Open Source 
Software). Libre to emphasise it is freedom not price.

[There are some Open Source softwares which are not free -- You can see the 
code , that's it!!! nothing more you are permitted. In strict definition it 
is not Open Source but they call it so. So better to use Free Software than 
Open Source when you refer to Software Freedom and eliminate confution]
