ACPI poweroff

I have a cuye problem,I have just loaded Enterprise Linux-4, and
whenever i give a shutdown....the system does the usual things and
stops with the line
acpi poweroff called
but it does not shutdown the SMPS (just lik old timers-IT IS NOW SAFE
TO TURN OFF!!!)
The problem was thr with the Fedora I had installed bfr,  but the
UBUNTU and SUSE I have nocely turns off the SMPS (so its not the bios
setting!)
Is thr anything we can do-------to the Shadow Man?
