Your hde2 is an extended partition Win95 Ext'd (LBA).

You have to further make logical partitions in an
extended partition and format it to some filesystem to
start mounting them. I had a prior opinion that only 4
partitions were possible on a harddisk. In this four
one of them can be made extended and then multile
logical partitions made in it from hdx5 -> hdx16. I
did some google and this URL says the same thing

But from the fdisk -l shown above it seems hde2 has
become the extended partition. My idea was hdx4 was
always the extended partition. I am confused seing
hde2 here....
