Setting up a Home Network

Hi!!

I am setting up a home network, and have to connect two machines, each
with one Network card on them. The machines will be in different
rooms, about 5 to 8 meters away, and not in line of sight. 

The problem - my connection to the net is through a Huawei BSNL broad
band router/modem, which connects only to the network card. The Huawei
thing is currently configured as a modem with security and firewalling
being handled by the machine.

One alternative would be to to go in for a hub, which means
configuring the Huawei thing as a router, which in turn, means
handing over security to the unknown OS on it.

The other alternative would be to get a network card and pop it into
one of the boxes. And I hate opening up cabinets. 

Any other alternatives? BlueTooth? wlan? TCP/IP over USB? Any idea on
how much it would cost and where in Kochi it is available?

To keep this mail on topic, both boxen run (and will continue to run)
Debian Sid/unstable - one the i386 version, and the other AMD64
version. ;)
