Oh. And there were plenty of dependency problems. You are assured of
an unworking system for at least 2 months, if you do this at the wrong
time - for example, when some important package is under transition in
debian. REPEAT - DO NOT DO THIS if you do not know what you are doing.

Debian and Ubuntu are compiled against different versions of libc6, so
you may end up with a trashed system.

Yes.  It  is due  to the libc6  and other dependency  problems.  ymmv.
AFAIK, Ubuntu uses the sources from Debian unstable / sid and compiles
them against  latest versions of libc6. I  may be wrong. and  I do not
use Ubuntu.
