Is it right to assume that you are able to reach all of those other sites
via anonymous proxy servers (like zend2, anonymouse, kproxy etc.) ?

Since you are on Linux, from command line, did you try to do "whois" lookup
? Can you install "http ping" (http://linux.die.net/man/1/httping) and see
if you can do HTTP-ping those sites ? Finally, you can try "traceroute" to
the resolved IP-address of those servers, to see how far down the
rabbit-hole you can go.
