I believe so. At least, my handheld helpfully alerts me on how many
unwanted calls and texts it has blocked.

Of course, you have to feed in the spammer's number first (tap on number
and 'add to blacklist'). Or else you can block all unknown numbers.

With Truecaller (which I don't use) and judicious paranoia, there's no
limit to what you can do. As the man said, telcos and spammers are
hand-in-glove, and I'd rather have control over my handheld than depend on
the regulator.

Upgrade. Trust no one.
