Why should it matters how often or how doggedly does Cook want to try ?
Should we not be thinking what is good for people of India and whether
it is good for Indian people to deny Apple access to Indian market.
The door opens both sides. Not only did Apple not get access to Indian
consumers, but also the Indian consumers did not get to experience Apple
product.
And what happens to the basics of democracy? Should the PM and bunch of
bureaucrats of a country decide what is
good for its people or should it be left up to the citizens to make the
decision?
Unfortunately, India remains a country at the bottom of the economic
development on most count and very small part of it can afford a brand
new Iphone (about $700 in US).
Also, what is wrong with duty free import of refurbished products if
it is backed by Apple guarantee. The refurbished products are usually
units that come back to factory as customer returns or for warranty
repairs and they generally last as good as factory first units.
And did not a few years ago Indian Navy spent crores of rupee to buy a
refurbished Air Craft Carrier from Russia. If Indian defense can be
trusted on refurbished ships, why cannot customers use refurbished phones?
This refurbished aircraft things begs a question: Were are these
fit-for-nothing sarkari scientists (at DRDO/ISRO/IITS etc) and engineer
who collect salaries each month but do not produce anything of value?
Go figure!!
Sincerely,
Ratnendra Pandey
