Personally, I use VIM when I code HTML on a linux machine.  I go into 
the configurations and specify that it is a HTML file and it does very 
nice color coding like the HTML text editors (shareware pgms) for windoze.  

I haven't used EMAC in a while because the VIM seemed to be more user 
friendly.  EMAC has a lot of nice feaures, but more features than I 
really needed at the time and used more resources.
