i'm with ya there!  use it for (X)HTML, CSS, PHP, bash, perl and even got
to use it in my Java class last semester (instead of the shareware Notepad+
or whatever that bugged everyone else with nag screens!)...  actually, i
very rarely use the syntax hilighting (on the machine i code on at work,
i've just never gotten around to turning it on, and on lloydnet, i actually
use VI [no 'm'])...  i tried emacs once back in the day, but it just didn't
make sense to me...  the same way that VI(m) makes little sense to those
that don't know it...

yah, that's the other reason i didn't use emacs long...  all i wanted was
something notepad-ish (tho' VI blows notepad away) to type some poetry in
(screw waiting a few seconds for Word or another office app to load just to
type a quick poem! :)

anyway, just my $0.02...  i'm working (read: someday in the distant future
it might be semi-complete) on a VI(m) tips & tricks page to put on my
website (mostly aimed at those with little or no VI experience), but it
doesn't have much now, except for how to navigate with the letters instead
of arrows...
