aggregate data collection

I have a problem where I need to be able to query multiple application
servers which will be known at runtime and then return the results back to
the requesting application.

Could someone suggest a framework or pattern that I could use for this
purpose.  Originally, I was thinking that either Apache Camel or Apache
Mule ESB could serve this purpose. But, after reading some of the online
blogs and documentation, I am now beginning to think that these tools will
not work for me.
