I love open discussion about what our JUG is doing and how the people that
have volunteered to lead it do that.

Today's Devnexus conference evolved out of the monthly AJUG meeting from a
desire to provide the Atlanta community with a low-cost  annual event that
is an opportunity to learn more about their existing tech stacks as well as
new things that they might not touch on in the daily 9-5. To put this in
perspective, for an Atlanta resident to attend JavaOne in San Francisco,
the cost is $2400 for the conference, $300 per night in a hotel, $400-500
in airfare and then meals on top.  You can do the math. You may not realize
but to run this monthly meeting costs around $20,000 a year and the sponsor
revenue we receive pays for all that because we tie AJUG to Devnexus

At the start of every monthly meeting, we open with a call for questions or
comments from the attendees.  Please take advantage of this time to express
your comments and concerns. We have also done online surveys in the past
and I wish more people had responded

I am going to recommend to the board that we dedicate one of the monthly
meetings (most likely next year as we have already planned out this year)
to a town hall "state of/future direction of AJUG" It would be awesome if
we got a strong turnout for that.
