Interesting thread. The statement about an executive champion is
absolutely true. You have to show dollar sense behind the
initiative--whether it's improving net promoter score (NPS) or simply
increasing conversions and driving up top-line revenue.
Where usability is concerned, there's usually a dollar trail to be
found to make the case. The key to identifying this is a clearly
defined customer/user road-map. Knowing who your customers are is the
first step in both understanding how they interact with your product
or service and how to improve.
