BayCHI Discussion participants,

As noted in a previous BayCHI discussions email, the BayCHI Tutorials
committee has received two tutorial proposals from Dr. David Siegel of Dray
and Associates.

The two proposals are:

1) Demystifying and Critiquing Quantitative User Research, and

2) Who, What, Where, and How? Methodological Challenges in Planning
Contextual Field Research.

Full descriptions of the proposed tutorials can be found at:
http://www.baychi.org/tutorial/proposal/

We would like to hear any additional comments and suggestions from you about
these proposals. We anticipate that one of these tutorials would be first
offered in a September 2010 or later time frame.

The feedback that I have received is provided below. Based on this feedback
on other factors, we are considering offering the "Demystifying and
Critiquing Quantitative User Research" tutorial first.

Any additional comments are welcome.

Best regards,

Jay Elkerton

Feedback from the first discussions email on this topic:

both sound valuable.

I would consider attending, depending on date (weekday), time commitment (1
day), location (San Francisco or Peninsula preferred) and cost.

Both of these sound very interesting to me and I would like to attend.

I love the sound of both of these and would definitely attend!

I plan to attend the Quantative Tutorial if the date is right and price is
reasonable.

I agree that what is considered "objective analysis" is often based in
subjectivity.

I would attend such a seminar.

One science that I might find interesting is the comparison and contrast of
the same quantitative data analyzed under different gestalt subdivisions;
since any design simultaneously comprises more than one gestalt principle, I
might find the study of first isolating them, then quantifying the same data
under each of them, a possible means to further achieve accurate analysis of
end-user methods, parameters, objects, attributes and delta time.
