Seeking advice on wireless cards

Hi, I am about to shop for wireless cards for my laptop and desktop. I would appreciate any info on what cards did you manage to get to work under Linux, where to shop for them in Beijing and how much did you pay for them (if purchased in China). Also I wonder if that makes sense to go for 802.11g instead of 802.11b? All comments appreciated.
