China Telecom and CNC are not the same entity. They have ownership of the
regional backbone in China. The northern half belongs to CNC and the southern
half to China Tel. China Telecom however has greater bandwidth to the
international backbone gateway in Beijing. So depending on who is providing
you with internet access, they may be connected to a network which is
connected to another network which does not have sufficient access to the
backbone.

But yes. As an ADSL subscriber with Beijing Communications a subsidiary of
China Netcome Group, I have been having issues opening Yahoo Mail for the
past week.

  Subject: [blug-tech] [OT] Dalian ISPs?

  Hi:

Does anyone have information/contacts with ISPs in Dalian?

Our school is using China Telecom (aka CNC) ADSL with abysmal performance
when going overseas. Inside China is fine.

China Telecom claims the problem is link from Beijing to overseas. I
doubt it. I had no problem when I was in Beijing.

  Thx.

  jim
