My SMS card uses the orinoco_cs drivers and is recognized as a Intersil PRISM2 11Mbps Wireless Adapter. What do you call a wireless hub? I have had very bad experience with WAP router working here in China and can't find out why. A friend has been having the same problems with different brands as well. The WAP router just won't be stable, will lose connection and so on. So since I had both, WAP and WAP router, I switch to a configuration using a PC as a router and my WAP connected to it. Works perfectly. Windows station do sometimes lose the connection and won't reconnect for let's say 20 minutes (!!!!!) but Mac works seamlessly (much better than the IBM running Windows - in term of hooking up to the wireless LAN). Configuration is by far easier on the IBM, especially with their supplied IBM connection manager - any equivalent in the Linux world? The MAC interface is a bit confusing but after trying all the possibilities you end up finding your way. Back to that IBM connection manager, it is really a great tools when using many different network setup (from one place to another, friends, labs, work, etc) and remembering either specific IP or Network interface used. And then you just switch from one profile to the next so easily! So if anyone know a replacement for non-IBM machines I'd love to hear it. So that's for me. I plan to go down to Zhongguancun to buy the whole range, wireless hub, 2 wifi cards for desktops and 1 wifi card for laptop. >From a previous post I learned that the Lucent Orinoco Gold PCMCIA is a good buy. But what about cards for desktops,... and of course the wireless hub? Oh, and please, PLEASE, DON'T even dare to mention Windows. I couldn't care less what works or doesn't work in Windows. I like to see Red (Hat) and not Blue (screen of death) :-) I am using Fedora Core 1. Great to see Frederic and Richard are talking Linux again :-) Thanks in advance.
