I believe my provider is Wangtong, and on Debian I just run pppoeconf to connect. It tests for a pppoe service on all available network connections, and if it finds one prompts me for a userid and password, then connects. Very straight-forward to use, and has always worked for me on two different ADSL accounts. Except one time when a bill was overdue, and then I got a login error in plog until the bill was fixed.....
