Hi,

BACKGROUND: we use Solaris boxes as desktops, and Linux boxes remotely.
Both Solaris and Linux boxes have Chinese language support. Recently we
tried to install Wine (ver. 20040121) on a remote Linux box. Wine's
NOTEPAD.EXE works perfectly, with Chinese fonts in menus. However,
we face a problem with MS-Office 2000:

PROBLEM: SETUP.EXE starts and displays a short note in Chinese (the same
font as in NODEPAD.EXE, so it looks like it is not just showing a bitmap),
however on subsequent screens the font is broken (i.e. all characters show
up as small empty squares).

Has anybody have more luck with similar install? Any debugging tips?

I have read that Crossover supports Chinese MS-Office 2000, so I guess
there should be a way to force Wine to do it too.

Thanks
Grzegorz

PS: I am aware of OpenOffice and I think it is great, but it happens to
screw documents authored under MSWord :-(
