Right, but what is the real difference? I am under impression
(after reading some posts here and there) that Crossover is just 
easier to set up, but the core engine is the same.

I am running OpenOffice-1.1.0, so AFAIK this is the latest stable
release. I agree that OO is making constant progress, however
we still have issues with opening Word documents sent to us, and 
this is the functionality we need most.
