Matteo, It seems to me that it is probably something basic in the permissions: You can open smb.conf with vi. In RH it is at /etc/'samba/ it should contain a line like valid users = username1 username2 username 3 etc. make sure that the XP usernames are properly listed there. Also check the permissions on the share etc while you are there. You should also (separately) check the ownership of the share. Then to be certain that all is OK in Samba do the mandrake equivalent of /sbin/service smb restart That will restart the samba server and that will update it with any changes that you have made to the conf file.
