Greetings all, Thoroughly enjoyed the Fedora install fest last night, thanks to all, and kudos to Mike and Richard for making it a great night. 5 Macs... I never thought anything like this would have happened. Matteo, where are you??? ;) Now would like to invite you all to BeiMac's last meeting for 2004, on Saturday the 18th of December, at 7 PM. We'll be presenting and, in fact, officially releasing WikiMac (Wiki Information Project for Macintosh Users). If you know Wikipedia, consider us the Mac version. While Wikipedia is a stellar site, its Mac bits are rather thin. The thicker (or fatter) bits of information are at WikiMac. It's where we'll actually tell you what happened with version 7.6 of the Mac OS (which is something that's currently not on the Wikipedia at the moment). You can already get a glimpse at http://mac.wikicities.com/ -- if you want the Zhongwen Banben, it's at http://zh.mac.wikicities.com/ We'll also be going through a live glimpse of the very first Mac system back in 1984. 2004 gear running a 1984 OS -- only BeiMac can zauber (i.e. cook) it up. No scalding required, but gasps are optional. Here's where it's at: Touch Bar, Houhai. That much data useful for you? We guess not -- a click on http://www.beimac.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=150 (Map) is possibly more useful by any account. Those who are coming -- we kindly ask you to do a very quick and totally painless registration at http://www.beimac.com/ueventregister.html BTW -- those from BLUG can already log on to WikiMac and get acquainted with our policies and our guide to creating wiki pages. We are particularly low on pages relating to OS X and Terminal, and we appreciate a few Linux articles as well (although not too many -- Macs, remember, are our focus). I also invite the President, Michael, to take part in both the meeting and on the wiki. Mike and all -- if BLUG wants a wiki, request one at http://www.wikicities.com/ Best, David Feng BeiMac Guy _______________________________________________ blug-general list [email protected] http://list.beijinglug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/blug-general
