RE: Non - Linux - But good article

Comparing Chinese to Rotten Apples as you call it offends me, and previous
comments of your in the same direction as well. All this is out of the scope
of the LUG and could eventually discuss around a beer, but I really hate to
see it here.
Being away with a broken back has nothing to do with being unable to read
emails.. not sure what your point was.

So to repeat myself as a non-Chinese I do feel offended by your comments
(and would probably feel even more if I were a Chinese) and therefore ask
you politely to keep them off the list.

If you have more to say we should better keep this discussion off the list
as really it is not the right place.

offended?  I think that you a being just a little bit silly.....

I think that you have mis-interpreted my comments.  And as a Linux User
Group - I made the overt reference to IT and telecommuting and the evolution
of society and thinking.  Is that not a topic that is at the heart of Linux
advocacy?  

Do I need to spell out the context of the metaphors and high rise buildings
(MS) and new infrastructure concepts (Linux)? 

Do I need to further highlight for you the glaring hypocrisy that I present?
An area of the world that is striving for new concepts and idea's and is a
leader in the adoption of said new ideas (eg: Linux mandates, broadband
adoption, local technology manufacturing sector) yet is undeniably still
lagging when it comes to other concepts (eg: space investment, construction,
city planning)? 

I think you should go and actually =read= the article before you comment
upon my apparent ill conceived polemics.  I am sure that as an intelligent
man Fred, you are capable of analysing events in context and not as unique
islands unto themselves?  

This is a topic about attitudes and culture and not an in-depth critique of
the reformation.  I say this with all due respect Fred, but I think your
political correctness blinkers are hindering your cognitive analysis on this
one....  ;-)

I would also like to ask you, exactly where have I been disrespectful? 
If you make a comment, tenants of good dialectics require some modicum of
empirical support. It may come as a bit of a shock to you, but truisms are
not in the exclusive realm of subjectivity.  I know that this may be a bit
of a bitter pill for some to swallow, however blinkered deference to
political correctness is nought but a thorn in the side of free thinking.
Personally as someone who is purported to be evangelising "open and free
software" I would find this just a tad concerning?  I quote my own first
sentence again, "good metaphors for life and our geographic region".

Anyway Fred, I don't think that you are really offended, if a comment is
superficially interpreted by yourself to be an insult or a slur with respect
to China, I really think that you ought to be a little more consistent in
your policing.  To quote yourself directly "I have been sick and not around"
I suggest that you engage in a quick retrospective troll of the list.  And
you should turn up many threads that would fall under your hitherto
"offended" nomenclature;
 
- Dalian ISP
- China ICMP
- Spam and RTBS
- Mass Hysteria, everyone turning off....

To name but a few.

And lastly, the title reflected the content, so if you do not want to read
it (as it appears you haven't), don't.  The list has hardly been a hotpot of
activity lately.

And I would also respectfully ask you to not impugn any apparent lack of
cultural respect upon me.  Your tacit implication is both incorrect and in
this case, genuinely offending.  Not to mention patently laughable in the
context of your apparent lack of mental digestion of the presented subject
matter.  And your inconsistent approach to the application of your social
judgement.  Nothing wrong with differing views Fred, just be consistent when
you want to lambaste someone, it helps in the credibility dept.

At the end of the day Fred, society is built upon the the notion that people
have differing opinions.  To die-regard that would be both myopic and
destroy one of the greatest aspects of human kind, diversity!  What is it
that they call that, culture?
