RE: Linux-based voice mail system wanted

I know a little about telephony.
To point you into the correct direction
two items have to be clarified.

First issue is protocol.
Which one: IP telephony, analog, or digital ?

Second hardware.
Do you have 50 lines now?
Are they coming through the local telecomm
or routed through a PBX?

Yeah, that info is vital.

Aside from those items, the experience I have had
was building systems:

A unix/linux box for logic ( class 5 svc voice,fax,email )
A Dialogic box for text-to-speech, prompts, tones.
And a small switch ( like eXcel ) for connectivity to POTS.
The switch basically accepted a T1 connect ( E1 in europe )

That setup costs a few $$ and of course needs an admin.

There are less expensive alternatives
(i.e. a modem bank attached to a linux box )
