As someone who is in the IASE program as a freshman I am interested in
this group, sadly all the meetings this semester conflict with my
current classes. I have been reading the emails sent to me, but do to
time constraints am also unable to access the IRC channel.

In the email sent by Josepth Booker quoted above I would have to
disagree on the pronunciation. In my education at a previous school in
my Linux classes we were taught that "etc" is pronounced "et see",
it's most similar in the Windows environment (to me) to the C:/Windows
directory. For example a "/etc" sub folder holds init.d, the
scheduling daemon, and another child folder holds the passwd file,
login info.
