Interesting "issue" with sharing files in Ubuntu via UbuntuOne

I have used the built in UbuntuOne cloud service to set up a folder that is automatically synchronised with my cloud account and I wanted a file in this to be shared out so I clicked on the "Share a file" in the UbuntuOne menu and got a URL for the file. I then sent this link via email and double checked that it worked. Yesterday it did, today it didn't. The difference seems to be that the file stops being shared out when the file is updated. I have played around a bit and find that the sharing URL is consistent for a specific version but if the file is changed then it automatically stops being shared. If I go in and share it out again, the URL for the new version is different. What I am wanting to do is to sent out an email that says, "click on this link to a spreadsheet I am updating to keep up to date with my progress as I am counting down the changes I need to do for my PhD thesis." I want a link that will always go to the latest version. Is this expected/known behaviour for UbuntuOne? Is there a simple way of doing what I want to do with UbuntuOne? I think I previously had this functionality with Dropbox but I would rather use UbuntuOne if possible. -- "Believing men would act in their own interest was not cynicism, it turned out, but sheerest optimism; in reality men do not meet so high a standard." -- Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality (Chapter 84) http://hpmor.com/ Reece Arnott Dunedin New Zealand _______________________________________________ DunLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ethernal.org/listinfo/dunlug DunLUG Wiki - http://dunlug.kallisti.net.nz/
