I had the same outage, but from the number of Orcon users complaining on Twitter (and lack of others doing the same) I had the impression it was Orcon specific. Maybe Xtra users just aren't on Twitter. Telecom's network status page<http://www.telecom.co.nz/whatsnew/broadbandservicestatus/>says they have an ongoing broadband issue in the South Island also.
