I wonder if either: You may be using an unstable version, or: Some underlying component may be crashing - perhaps poor kernel drivers? Something else? FTR, I have audacity version '2.0.5-1ubuntu3' installed, running on Ubuntu Trusty Tahr. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I wanted to post to point out that, in my case at least, our experiences don't match. The problem might be elsewhere...
