Normally you don't actually download the .ics file you put the link into 
your calendaring program for it to periodically check it.

Depending on what email/calendaring program you use there will be a 
place to add a network or internet calendar, this is where you put the 
link (you can manually download the .ics file and use that but it won't 
be automatically updated if you do). The calendaring program will then 
re-download a new copy of the .ics file every so often (every day at 
least or maybe every 30 minutes depending on the preferences).
