+1 for Moto G - very good entry level android phone, great price. A little heavy and the screen isn’t what the nexus 5 has for another $150 (ish). My favourite thing about the Moto G - Motorola software which silences alerts / calls when you’re supposed to be sleeping & during scheduled meetings. Loved it. Quite jealous since I got the phone for my partner and can’t find equivalent software yet for mine :) On 17/08/2014, at 9:28 am, Michael Foley <[email protected]> wrote: > Hey Bob, > > I have a spare old Nokia 6720 Classic (6720c-1b) that you can have if you want it (or borrow until you get replacement). You can look up the specs, but it was a pretty decent phone with GPS and maps and even the ability to get some apps, though I'm not sure you can still download any. > > My new phone is the Motorola Moto G. For $200ish to $300 it has been a pretty good phone for basic smartphone usage. My favourite features over the old standard phone are the swipe typing, and voice recognition. Everything else I agree I could do on my tablet. > > As Geoff says battery life is not as good, but I actually haven't found it that bad. I can get up to 4 or 5 days with light usage, less if I'm using it a lot, especially with GPS on. Installing Agent or something similar to turn off wifi/bt/gps at night definitely helps lengthen battery life. > > Hope that helps, > Michael > _______________________________________________ > DunLUG mailing list > [email protected] > http://lists.ethernal.org/listinfo/dunlug > DunLUG Wiki - http://dunlug.kallisti.net.nz/ _______________________________________________ DunLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ethernal.org/listinfo/dunlug DunLUG Wiki - http://dunlug.kallisti.net.nz/
