Re: My computer stopped doing sound

FWIW (I am using xfce on ubuntu studio)  check that under sound settings
(I get there via the icon on my panel, but settings manager should take
you there too) there is a (I have a)  "Configuration" tab.  It has a
drop down menu for "Profile" that lets you switch between the sound
devices.  Most modern computers have at least two - HDMI and the
internal speakers/stereo jack.  If it is switched to HDMI and you are
not using a HDMI device then you will have no sound.

I got bitten as I used my computer to watch videos on an HDMI device and
it took me ages to find the configuration settings to get sound
