I've noticed in the back room at Filadelfio's that while there tends
to be a main group talking about anything and everything - beer is a
topic that interested me - some people are sitting aside in twos or
threes, presumably discussing some technical topic that they have a
common interest in, or perhaps one is helping the other(s) with
problems they have encountered. Hybrid tech/social DIY meeting style,
possibly if there are techy things you'd like to discuss you could
post this when a meeting announcement is put up, and see if you can
get others who are into the same aspects of Linux/computers to come
along for a meeting within a meeting. The non-tech thing turns some
people off, but because technical issues are so very different and
what is of compelling interest to some is boring, irrelevant, too
advanced, or too simplistic to others, in other words a turn-off. I
think the hybrid meeting style could be a winner, what do others
think?
