I'm looking to beef up the RAM in the ACER laptop that my lady uses mainly for work. It runs XP with 2 x 256 RAM sticks in the sockets. As I use it when away from home, I find that 512 is a bit limiting when working with graphics files. Replacing 1 x 256 with a 512 stick, or better yet, re- placing both 256 sticks with 512 seems like a good start. CPUZ reports the RAM as DDR PC 2700 166Hz ( have a serial number, if that helps.) Daniel Would the RAM sticks in that HP of mine that you still have, do the job? I recall they're Kingston, and perhaps both 512? General Laptop Specs Question My daughter's having a vocational change. One in which a laptop with graphics grunt is almost essential. Lots of pic files to scroll through, as I understand it. What does she need to look for in laptop specs, that makes graphics crunching fast and easy? Is it as simple as lots of RAM? Is there a laptop equivalent of a graphics accelerator card with on-board RAM? Where has lap- top technology got us to with such stuff, nowadays?
