The weird thing is, when its physically connected ( modem status light says connection to pc is there ) ubuntu says connected as well but no internet can be reached. Clicking on the network manager will happily disconnect/reconnect but no internet is available. So its connecting to the modem, just not finding ( or being given ) and internet connection for some reason. Also when it says it 'is' connected you still cant login to the modem interface via a browser so its definitely not hooked up. Could be a modem issue I suppose. I'll take another one out to try today. chris Rene Bartosh wrote: Normally you can just click on the network manager icon then choose the network to connect to. It will ask for a password if needed (e.g. for wpa) and then connect. If the ADSL is not up the network connection should at least be configured via DHCP and work onces the ADSL/PPP is up. If the DHCP server is not starting before the PC (seems unlikely) then maybe you should look at setting the IP address statically. Is there any way to make ubuntu automatically re-scan for internet connections once its booted up and not found one? The scenario - if no connection is present at boot up ( the modem/router hasn't had time to connect or such ) ubuntu caries on with booting and refuses to find any connection until its shutdown/restarted. -- Chris _______________________________________________ HBLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.linux.net.nz/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/hblug _______________________________________________ HBLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.linux.net.nz/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/hblug
