They use PoE injectors (supplied) which are really cool!

These things are bonkers.  Configured correctly they just show up like a 
bit of wire between the two houses.

They will move all the layer 2 junk, that can be quite handy, however 
they can also do a truck load of other stuff that any high end AP will do.

The radios will talk at up to 150mbit.  However the eth is only 100mbit, 
so for Chris's site they're only going to get 100, but you also have to 
take some over head off as well, so it works out ~90/92mbit.

150mbit radios mean that if you're using them in a multi drop p2p set up 
then you can get more than 100mbit across the links AIUI.

They don't like trees, but you can push the power up a bit, so if you're 
trying to push 100m past some trees they should work, however there is 
another product that is better for this.

If you want range past 1km then there is also another solution that will 
do this as well (though I was chatting to someone tonight who tells me a 
site on the West Coast is actually pushing CCTV 8km! Go figure.)

In Wellington these units are being used by the Uni to do a p to mp - 1 
to 60 house drops.  The network is pushing 60 to 70 mbits to clients 
(though the students won't get that because of the billing control system).

Anyway, plz don't bash me for sounding like an advert. :)  Just thought 
ppl might be interested in this stuff.  If there is more interest I'm 
happy to point people to some other dev that's going on which is really 
quite interesting.  Given that RRB is going on and you rural guys are 
wanting data I thought that ppl might be interested.
