We had them ring up and stringed them along for an hour, it was awesome.

Partner talked to them.

They got him to open up task manager, when he told them his cpu usage was at
1% they explained that when you first get a computer its runs at 100%, but
the virus's have made it so it can only run at 1% now.

Then they got him to open up a windows system folder, and told him that all
the files in there were virus as well, causing all the problems.

They then wanted him to download and run team viewer so they could get into
his computer (it was about this point he started confusing them with talk of
his snapgear fire wall, pinholes, rdp sessions, and other such things they
had NO IDEA what he was on about)

After teamviewer did not work (as he was supplying the wrong details) they
wanted to try a couple of other programs.

They also wanted his credit card so they could charge him for a 4 year
support contract.

Interestingly, the call dropped about half an hour in, but the guy must have
thought he had a sucker, because he rang back!

Brad does a lot of phone support for a company, so this call was great for
him, as lots of customers where ringing up asking about them.

Its an international problem
