If the infringement has occurred within a certain number of days, the the ISP will send out a notice of infringement. You may challenge this notice, or you may ignore it. There's more to it, but the key point here is, the copyright holder must notify the ISP first. You can't be accused of piracy with accusation from the copyright holder. --Brett On 6/08/11 8:49 AM, Chris Morris wrote: > The law as it stands now, assumes guilt. > If you use p2p software, you are a pirate. > You must prove your innocence in court if challenged. > > A costly exercise I'm guessing. > > chris > > > > On 06/08/11 08:26, Helen Burnett wrote: >> I am thinking of keeping my p2p software, and torrenting every single >> legal thing i can find. >> >> On Sat, Aug 6, 2011 at 8:22 AM, Daniel Faulknor <[email protected] >> <mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: >> >> Hi Chris, >> >> As far as I know, its illegal (copyrighted) content only, however >> the FAQ put out by internetNZ (3strikes.net.nz >> <http://3strikes.net.nz>) suggests avoiding all P2P activity, to >> be on the safe side. >> >> A great number of people are downloading their linux iso's >> offshore, and then downloading them to NZ via other protocols. >> Feel free to contact me off list for more information =) >> >> Cheers, >> Dan >> On 6/08/2011, at 7:39 AM, Chris Morris wrote: >> >> > It seems now that if you use p2p software to download the >> latest linux iso's you may well be accused of illegal file >> sharing.
