Music on Linux

Just in case if anyone is interested in making music in Linux, like using
MIDI sequencer programs and audio editors, I found that two distributions
that somehow work better than others are Mandrake, and especially PLANET
CCRMA distribution from Stanford:

They basically enhance the Fedora distribution with music related
applications, and also package it all using Debian-type apt package
manager. So, now I can use apt-get to upgrade my redhat-type system,
which is a nice feature.

The best midi sequencer program on Linux is Rosegarden
(rosegardenmusic.com) - the closest native equivalent to Cubase. I tried
it and it is no worse and maybe even better than its expensive commercial
counterparts. And the beauty of it is that you can put it on your
workstation at home and on your laptop to take it with you and it's all
free, and yes - it's open-source too.

Sorry, I missed the last meeting -:(
