i got a new mp3 player as a gift and have been trying to use it on my linux machine. it does not mount on the mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/usbdrive command. but i did get it to improve from the invalid block device error to the mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1,
or too many mounted file systems
error.

i have a usb keyboard and mousethat work fine. I am on redhat 9. and the mp3 player has a built in compact flash reader with a 1gig card. I tried using the command tail -f /var/log/messages and when I pluged it in it said Jun 26 13:34:26 localhost kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:01.3-3, assigned address 9
Jun 26 13:34:26 localhost kernel: usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=9
(error=-110)
Jun 26 13:34:27 localhost kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:01.3-3, assigned address 10
Jun 26 13:34:27 localhost kernel: usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=10 (error=-110)
