I agree, the install fest needs significant planning.  However, talking the
install fest with 10-20 (possibly more) new members will probably bore them
and turn them off of the group and possibly Linux.

Breaking into two groups is a good idea.  Another possibility is to have
someone present a short, focused introduction to Linux; no more than 1/2 an
hour.  Then, after the presentation, part of the old members can answer any
questsions the new members may have and the remainder can plan the install
fest.
