Bob will be confirming some of this with an abbreviated set of minutes (since we didn't discuss too much new), but here's where we stand according to my notes. ACM and MorLUG will be joining forces on the LinuxFest/InstallFest. The date/time remains what ACM had originally planned - we've reserved an NRCCE assembly room from 5-9, with the posted Fest time from 5:30-8:30 (this should give us time to set up / break down, or run a bit long if needed). There are three connection ports in the room. MorLUG will be providing switches so we can connect extra computers. They also said they could provide a few extra power strips, which wouldn't be a bad idea (we requested that NRCCE provide those to us, but it never hurts to have a few backups). MorLUG will be offering various CD's for free, which rather shot the idea of ACM offering them for a donation. However, my dad's company (Cook Enterprises, LLC) has generously offered ACM a $475 donation (w00t!), which I dropped off today. So we will have money to move forward with other things. In my mind at least it's become less critical to try to raise ACM money with LinuxFest as it is to have a successful, well attended event (although any funds we do still happen to raise would be a nice bonus, and of course MorLUG is welcome to do any fund raising they had in mind, if any). MorLUG said they had release forms for people to sign before any installs are done on their machines, so we'll be covered there. Just to reiterate on the room, we requested the NRCCE room be set up with 2 projectors, 7 tables, and 30 chairs. ACM and MorLUG will be supplying all computers. ACM had thought to provide refreshments in the form of pop and cookies, chips, etc. Brian had at one point offered department money to pay for that, but we don't have anything official yet. Daniel was going to talk to Brian and firm things up there. We weren't able to view the video presentations due to a death in Ricky's family (our condolances, Ricky). They'll be posted on the internet soon, and a link will be sent to the ACM list so we can all take a look at those. Brian Masney never showed up at the meeting, so I'm not sure what's going on there, if he's still planning to make it to the Fest or not. As far as spreading the word about the Fest, Chris said he'd submit the Fest to U92 as part of the campus calendar. Bob and someone else (sorry, I didn't catch your name) were going to talk to the DA, and see if we can get some publicity, hopefully in the form of a story before, and maybe a followup afterwards. If nothing else, we can do a free ad in the campus calendar. And the flyer people (sorry, I didn't write down who all was on that committee) are going to go ahead and start putting up flyers around campus. Emails can probably start going out, too. We're planning another meeting next Wed. at 5:30. I've requested Brown again, but haven't heard back if it'll be available or not. I'll send out conformation as soon as I firm up a room. For ACM future events, we have Dr. Ross scheduled Oct. 31 at 4pm. I emailed him again requesting an abstract and bio, and will pass that on as soon as I get it so we can make up flyers for that event. And... I think that's it for now. :) ~Katie Cook, ACM Vice President
