I'm flat out tired of discussing MorLUGs future and how to maintain it as a viable 'group.' As such i'm firmly in the "No formal meetings, bring in 1 or 2 big name speakers a year, maintain a good website, mailing list, and get together 'informally' at the moose or bw3's or someone's backyard/living room to talk tech." Obviously we need money to bring in speakers ... we can find out what it takes to get various people in. Take a collection and whoever we can afford we bring in. I'm sure there are some names out there that many people on this list would like to see come in. I like the idea of maintaining status with WVU, if only so we can get a room for that speaker we get. I also believe they provide /some/ money for expenses. I don't know how much off the top of my head, craig may be able to tell us that. I would like to see more community participation in the mailing list. Throw up questions, and don't be afraid to ask ... all we ask is that you spend 30 seconds googling before shooting an email to the mailing list. The IRC channel has been much more active recently. Thats a good thing, i like it. Even some old names have popped back in :). Games. MorLUG used to have a tetrinet server. I can do that again if people would like. Are there any other network games people would like to see online? Anyone, those are my thoughts on the subject, and I really want to hear everyone else's. Just remember, we are a community group, if we want meetings every month or week it takes the community to make it happen. One thing that I think becoming a WVU group did was alienate people that are not affiliated with WVU. We had a very large following from the high schools and morgantown area before we started having meetings at the university. I'd like to assure all those people they have always been and always will be welcome. Mike.
