Or have I got it wrong? that's how i understood it. your OS in one gigantic, multi-GB file, stored inside an ancient, slow, decrepit file system. i recall hearing somewhere of a ~10% overhead in speed through storing everything in that file rather than natively. putting aside what i said earlier about open drivers *, i think running a unix distro inside windows is, well, a bit crazy. windows being the weak link and all i've done the opposite successfully, and would recommend that if you really, really, want to use such a poor OS at a slight tangent, does anyone know what happened to the open graphics card? i recall some project building an opengl compatible card out of FPGAs of all things * and poor drivers being the case, are you going to get decent virtualised 3D graphics in unix from within a windows host anyway? -- robin http://bumblepuppy.org/blog/?p=237 - government bill to remove basic human rights in NZ _______________________________________________ NZLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.linux.net.nz/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nzlug
