Yep. I run clamd and connect to it from amavisd-new.
I run 'freshclam' every other day.

IMHO, its best to use more than one virus scanner, because some are 
slower at getting the new defs... and the newest virii are always the 
ones people are wanting to stop (especially ugly ones that increase 
network traffic).
